Fundamentals of Earthquake Engineering - This is the first course in a series being developed by the Quake Centre at the University of Canterbury. The purpose of the whole programme is:

  • To review the earthquake engineering knowledge and skills that you learnt through your degree, and in the early parts of your career.
  • To help you to know how to apply these skills and knowledge.
  • To highlight areas of practice that require careful thought, in which you cannot always rely upon the Code to provide solutions.

Structural Dynamic Concepts for Seismic Design - This course is intended for the reader who is unfamiliar with structural dynamic concepts for seismic design; to give an outline of the most important principles and analytical methods, some help with jargon, and an account of particular issues relating to seismic analysis. 

Seismic Design to the New Zealand Loading Code - This is the third course in the series developed by the Quake Centre at the University of Canterbury. The aim of this course is to familiarize practicing structural engineers and civil engineering students with the loading and earthquake loading standards in New Zealand.

This course is to familiarize practicing structural engineers and civil engineering students with the loading and earthquake loading standards in New Zealand along with several methods of structural analysis. This course includes basic definitions from the loading standard, a summary of the earthquake loading standard and detail on the equivalent static and modal analysis method.
